Job Description

We are looking for a talented and motivated Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong practical and technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to develop effective solutions for real-world engineering challenges.

This position best suits someone with previous experience in a similar design or engineering role, particularly within a fabrication, workshop, or industrial environment. While we value academic achievement, this role is not intended for recent graduates.

You will work closely with our fabrication, maintenance, and installation teams to turn customer requirements into robust, manufacturable designs. This is a key role with plenty of variety, autonomy, and opportunities to develop.

Key Responsibilities

Produce high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models Develop design solutions for fabrication, assemblies, and engineered components Work collaboratively with workshop, projects, and management teams Assist with improving internal design standards and processes Perform design changes, updates, and revisions as required Ensure compliance with relevant standards, safety requirements, and best practices

Required Skills & Experience

Solidworks, with AutoCAD an advantage Good understanding of fabrication, machining, materials, and manufacturing processes Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications Practical, hands-on problem-solving mindset Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills Confident communicator who can work in a fast-paced environment Previous experience in a comparable engineering/design role is essential

Desirable

Exposure to material-handling or recycling-plant equipment such as conveyors, trommels, drums, rollers, guarding systems, chutes, tanks, platforms, or similar machinery Experience within fabrication, steelwork, workshop engineering, or maintenance environments Exposure to project engineering or site work Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
