Design Engineer

Fastline Steel Services are the UK's number 1 manufacturer of steel perimeter fencing systems for security, sports and general application. We also manufacture other related perimeter and impact protection products, in addition to cycle, shade & smoking shelters.

Due to continuing expansion we are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to work on ongoing projects and help develop new products.

The role will be based in our Stoke-on-Trent offices. The company's main manufacturing facility is in Willenhall, with additional offices in Liverpool and Bristol.

Position Overview:

As a Design Engineer at Fastline Steel Services you will be responsible for tailoring security fencing, security gates, and other related products to meet client needs, and follow the design process through to preparing instructions for manufacturing.

You will work closely with the Sales & Business Development teams to meet customer's needs.

The role offers and opportunity to work on a diverse and challenging range of security related projects in a variety of environments, as well as other design projects.

Responsibilites

-Design and develop fencing & gate systems for customer approval and manufacture using CAD software such as SolidWorks.

-Familiarity with manufacturing processes related to steel, including CNC flatbed lasers, sheet metal folding, CNC tube lasers, machining, welding, and metal finishing such as galvanising and powder coating.

-Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

-Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and customer base.

-Good presentation skills relating to the creation on drawings and other information suitable to provide to customers for sales and project approval purposes.

-Familiarity with fencing, gates, and security systems will be a distinct advantage.

- Create and maintain technical documentation including design specifications, test plans, and reports.

- Utilize knowledge of mechanical engineering principles to ensure designs meet industry standards and regulations.

- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure successful implementation of designs.

Requirements:

- Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, for 3D modelling and design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Pay: 25,500.00-37,500.00 per year
