The Design Technology Technician is responsible to the Head of Department for Art/Design

and Technology for the effective delivery of technical support to the school in the areas

designated by this job description. Technicians will not be responsible for other staff.

Duties:

1. Adhere to Health & Safety policies and protocols

2. Preparation of materials and routine tool maintenance of all (including textile machinery) hand

and machine tools, including adjustment for wear and tear.

3. Keeping tool trays and teaching aids up to date, as required by the staff in the subject area and

working upon own initiative.

4. Provision of support services to the subject area in organising requirements for their work in

both the Technology and Art department.

5. Oversight of specialised teaching areas, stores and preparation rooms and arrangements for

maintenance and repair services to equipment and working surfaces.

6. Maintenance of stock and breakage records, catalogues and user manuals, including Health &

Safety folders.

7. Ordering, receiving and accounting for new stock and equipment.

8. Assisting in the maintenance of safety standards in the departments.

9. Support whole school preparation and updating of displays

10. Support Extra curricular clubs for the Faculty and STEM Leaders.

11. Any other duties which are commensurate with the grading of the post.
