Job Description

Job Purpose:

As a Despatch Operative at Hospital Direct, you'll play a key role in ensuring our products are packed, labelled, and shipped accurately and efficiently to customers across the UK and beyond.

You'll be part of a hands-on team that values precision, pace, and pride in getting things right first time.

Accountabilities

Pick, pack, and prepare orders for despatch in line with daily schedules

Ensure all items are correctly labelled and packaged to meet quality standards

Load and unload deliveries, maintaining safe handling practices

Use internal systems to record despatch activity and update order status

Liaise with couriers and transport providers to ensure timely collections

Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment

Report any issues with stock, packaging, or equipment to the supervisor

Support stock counts and inventory checks when required

Work flexibly across departments during busy periods or staff shortages

Skills, Training and Knowledge Required

Essential:

Previous experience in a despatch, warehouse, or logistics role preferred

Good attention to detail and accuracy in handling orders

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks

Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Excellent problem-solving skills

IT Skills, including Excel and Word

Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work

Attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

Valid driving license
