Job Overview
The Despatch Manager is responsible for managing all outbound logistics activities within the manufacturing facility. This includes overseeing the despatch of finished goods, ensuring accurate order fulfilment, maintaining efficient workflow between production and transport, and leading a team to achieve on-time, in-full delivery performance. The role requires a hands-on leader who ensures goods are protected, loaded, and shipped to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day despatch operations for all finished goods leaving the manufacturing site.
Supervise and support the despatch team, including planners, forklift drivers, and loaders.
Work closely with production, warehouse, and transport teams to ensure seamless coordination and accurate scheduling of outgoing loads.
Ensure all orders are correctly picked, packaged, labelled, and dispatched in line with customer and regulatory requirements.
Oversee despatch documentation, including delivery notes, shipping manifests, and transport records.
Help maintain accurate stock levels by ensuring JTS systems are updated in real-time.
Assist in scheduling transport and liaising with internal or external carriers to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery.
Monitor and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OTIF (On Time In Full), despatch accuracy, and transport cost efficiency.
Uphold site Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards in all despatch activities.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement lean initiatives to drive operational efficiency.
Organise and log goods received from our sister company, to ensure efficient goods turn-around.
Be occasionally available outside of standard working hours to make or receive emergency calls relating to transport and/or despatch.
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience in a Despatch, Logistics, or Warehouse Management role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills.
Excellent understanding of manufacturing logistics and production flow.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Sound knowledge of transport regulations, load security, and H&S standards.
Highly organized with a focus on accuracy, quality, and timely execution.
Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to production and customer demands.
Preferred Qualifications
Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations Management experience, or previous experience in similar role.
Forklift license or understanding of material handling equipment.
Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
Understanding of ISO quality systems or similar standards.
Working Conditions
Based on-site in a manufacturing environment with both office and shop-floor responsibilities.
9:30am to 6:00pm hours, although may require flexible hours to support shift operations or urgent despatch schedules.
Occasional travel for logistics coordination or supplier meetings

Pay: 35,000.00-40,000.00 per year
