Job Description

Overall Purpose of the Role



To carry out all reasonable duties related to picking and despatching orders, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all despatch processes in line with company standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Duties



Support the despatch process by performing all assigned tasks efficiently and accurately. Adhere to the company's core values, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Follow all Health & Safety guidelines and report any concerns or incidents immediately. Maintain a high standard of hygiene, following all SOPs, GMPs, and quality procedures. Ensure your work area is kept clean and tidy at all times, using the "clean as you go"principle. Work proactively to minimise waste and maximise efficiency through effective stock rotation.

Quality & Product Handling



Conduct random visual inspections to ensure products meet customer specifications. Report any non-conformances or quality issues to the Despatch Manager promptly. Handle all products safely, hygienically, and in accordance with company standards. Ensure all orders are accurately built, checked, and moved to the correct despatch location on time.

Operational Tasks



Lift small orders, label, and place them into crates as required. Set up tray ends based on the product being packed and ensure correct labelling. For each production run: Apply a sample tray end to the production sheet, verify details, and sign off. Print and apply tray ends to products on each packing line. Remove full pallets, replace with empty ones, and ensure early depot orders are prioritised. Wrap finished pallets, apply pallet sheets, double-check crate counts, and transfer promptly to the despatch fridge to prevent temperature abuse. Maintain clear organisation within the despatch fridge and communicate with loaders to ensure correct trailer loading. Keep allergen, reject, and organic areas reserved strictly for their respective product types. Liaise with the Quality Team regarding completion times for Ocado sliced and stuffed products. Assist with loading pallets onto trailers when required. Immediately report any discrepancies in order counts or pallet data to the Despatch manager

Continuous Improvement



Actively monitor work processes and suggest improvements where possible. Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and management to ensure smooth workflow and continuous improvement.
