The Role
As a Despatch Operative at Clayton Glass, you'll play a key role in ensuring our high-quality glass products are accurately prepared, safely handled, and efficiently loaded for delivery. This is a vital part of our operation, where attention to detail and a commitment to quality make a real difference.
You'll be responsible for checking finished goods against order specifications, inspecting for defects, securely labelling and packaging items, and moving them to the despatch area using a counterbalance forklift truck (valid licence required). Experience with warehouse or despatch operations is important, and familiarity with inventory systems such as SAP or similar is a strong advantage.
A good understanding of basic logistics and transport coordination will help ensure products are despatched in line with our "On Time, In Full" pledge to customers. The role requires physical fitness, strong timekeeping, and a flexible, team-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities
Loading and Unloading: Safely load and unload delivery vehicles, ensuring goods are handled carefully to prevent damage.
Order Preparation: Pick, label, and secure products for transport, following job sheets and schedules.
Movement of Goods: Transport products from the production line to the despatch area, using a forklift where appropriate.
Forklift Operation: Operate counterbalance forklifts safely and perform daily checks, reporting any faults or issues.
Warehouse Organisation: Maintain a tidy and organised despatch area, ensuring goods are ready for timely collection.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all warehouse health and safety protocols and company procedures.
General Support: Assist with other warehouse and despatch duties as required to support smooth operations.
Essential Criteria
Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence - must be in date and compliant with current safety standards.
Proficient in English - ability to read and understand written instructions, job sheets, and health and safety documentation.
Relevant Experience - prior experience working within a warehouse, despatch, or logistics environment.
Attention to Detail - strong focus on accuracy and care when handling and preparing goods for despatch.
Physical Capability - physically fit and able to safely lift, move, and handle products and materials throughout the shift.
Professional Conduct - dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of attendance and timekeeping.
Team Collaboration & Flexibility - adaptable and willing to support varying in line with operational needs.
Desirable (Non-Essential) Criteria
Previous experience working in a manufacturing or glass production environment
Full UK driving licence

Location: Clayton Glass, 6 James Street, Righead Industrial Estate, Bellshill, ML4 3LU
Working Hours / Shift Pattern: 42 hours per week, rotating shifts:
Week 1: Monday - Friday, 06:00 - 15:00 (finishing at 14:30 on Fridays)
Week 2: Monday - Thursday, 14:00 - 23:00. Friday 12:30 - 21:00
Salary: 28,739.36 per annum
