Job summary
This role will sit within Transformation and Corporate Services (TCS), supporting the Digital Business Partner. TCS are responsible for leading organisation-wide change, and for delivering many of our key digital and development services.
This role along with other digital colleagues will work with all areas of Scottish Forestry (SF) to ensure that digital assets and estate meet the needs of business as well as meeting digital and cyber resilience standards. They make digital and systems decisions; identify emerging technologies and their potential; understand stakeholder requirements and organisational processes and devise options to improve systems; and assess business systems risk and identify mitigation actions.
Job description
The Digital Business Support Officer will work as part of the Transformation and Corporate Services team to support the Digital Business Partner in their activities.
Reporting directly to the Digital Business Partner you will assist in managing the relationships and service level agreement (SLAs) with our main digital service providers, Scottish Government (SG) and Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS), and a supporting role on supplier relationships for other key services focusing on facilitating smooth digital operations. This involves tasks such as managing administrative duties, acting as a liaison between various teams and departments, and assisting in documentation and record-keeping.
The role involves stakeholder liaison, to help understand user requirements, communicate digital changes, and assist in managing relationships with service providers. Providing digital support, advice and assistance to users in accordance with policies, procedures
and information governance best practice, ensuring compliance with standards.
The post holder will be involved in the procurement, physically handle, and facilitate the onward deployment of IT equipment in accordance with SF practices and policies.
Overall, the job encompasses a wide range of tasks aimed at supporting digital initiatives and enhancing organisational efficiency within Scottish Forestry. The post holder will continually adapt to the changing nature of the digital requirements, the products and solutions available, and evaluate their systems of work accordingly to ensure continuous improvement to our Digital Services. While there will be some technical support, your technical knowledge and experience will mostly be used on an advisory basis helping to inform on future developments.
The post holder will provide support primarily to the Digital Business Partner but will also
support the delivery of the activities identified in the digital and data strategy, business model and processes, which in turn, supports our Agency strategies and our business needs.
While the role is based within the our National Office in Edinburgh, Scottish Forestry operate an activity based hybrid working model (approximately 1-2 days per week in the office, depending on business needs). The successful candidate will be required to occasionally travel to our other offices throughout Scotland to support digital support activities.
We work in a matrix style, which means you will be a resource across the organisation, collaborating with (and with potential opportunities to work as part of) other teams too.

Experience
Essential:
Organising & Facilitating Meetings
Effective problem-solving skills
Strong demonstrable IT knowledge and skills, in particular the use of Microsoft applications and digital tools.
Experience of delivering Digital support to a diverse group of stakeholders
Excellent organisational skills, able to plan, organise, manage and prioritise workloads and find efficient ways of managing work
Desirable:
Experience in inter-organisational working
Project Support Experience
Experience supporting digital learning or training initiatives across a business
Experience of working within the Public Sector
Knowledge of SG, SF & FLS Systems & Terminology
Experience applying ITIL principles in service delivery
Technical
Essential:
Advanced use of M365, i.e. SharePoint Lists, PowerApps, etc
Understanding of GDPR and Information Security
Awareness of government digital standards
Awareness of Cyber Security Standards
Desirable:
Experience of Digital Systems i.e. SharePoint, Service Desk and Document Management Applications
Familiar with telecom management platforms or portals
Understanding of accessibility standards for digital content
Experience of creating digital content
