Job Description

On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Digital Content Designer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based Remote (Occasional travel to Swindon Office).



You'll be working in a multidisciplinary agile team, where you'll be leading on the planning and delivery of content design activities for the team. You'll have a lot of autonomy and support from the team, as well as the UCD Lead. The team uses Confluence, Jira, Slack and Miro to collaborate with teams. Design Operations is maturing with our Design System (a spin off GOVUK Design System) and we use Figma.



As a Digital Content Designer your main responsibilities will be to:

Provide content design, practices, tools and techniques across UKRI to ensure user needs are met simply and intuitively. Design clear, accessible content for digital services. Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines in a fast-moving environment with evolving user needs. Work with subject-matter experts (SMEs) to promote user-centred content design. Apply a variety of user experience design techniques and methodologies. Ensure that the team/project/programme takes a user centred, evidenced based approach to content design. Identify gaps in content design skills and capability and help teams grow and develop. Contribute to UKRI's internal content design community of practice, sharing expertise and standard approaches to content design across all UKRI digital services.

Essential:



Experience of working in agile delivery teams. Experience designing content for large or complex projects/programmes using a range of user experience techniques. Proven ability to drive content design practices, tools and techniques. Experience planning and delivering designs well ahead of the development pipeline in agile software teams. Extensive experience creating, iterating, managing and overseeing content across multiple channels. Experience of iterating a live digital service - working with business stakeholders on content reviews.

Desirable:



Experience of working standard design toolkits and tools, ideally with the GDS Design system and prototype kit.
