Charity People is partnering with Variety, a children's disability charity entering an exciting year with growth plans for the future, to recruit their new Digital Marketing Manager. An amazing organisation with a fantastic team in place and their 75th anniversary year coming up in 2024, this is an opportunity to play a key part in helping the organisation deliver their life changing work through the development and delivery of targeted and effective, data insight led, multi-channel digital marketing campaigns.
Job Title: Digital Marketing Manager
Reporting to: interim CEO
Salary: 42,000 - 48,000
Location: Hybrid working with ideally two days per week based in the organisations Camden office
Contract: Permanent full time contract working 35 hours per week

The UK has over 1.3 million disabled children and nearly four million children living in poverty. Variety exists to improve their lives. The charity funds and delivers life-changing programs that enhance the quality of life and give children and young people across the UK a better future. Having seen an increase in demand for its grant giving services over the past 12 months, the charity is currently undergoing a major review of programmes and operations that will ensure that the organisation can deliver maximum support to their community. Embarking on a period of significant growth and investment, a series of new roles are being introduced to ensure that the right skills are in place to deliver their plans to help more children and young people in need.
About the role
As Digital Marketing Manager you will be joining a friendly and supportive team to lead the implementation and deliver of all digital marketing activity including website and social media activity. You will work with colleagues to maximise digital engagement, reach potential supporters and beneficiaries, using data insight and analysis to help inform strategic digital marketing decision making. You will also line manage a small team of two including the PR and Communications Officer.
Key responsibilities within the role will include:

  • Working with the Director of Marketing, Digital and Events to develop a new digital marketing and social media strategy
  • Oversee social media channels and paid media in a user-centred way, ensuring that content is engaging and speaks to brand guidelines
  • Manage the organisation's website, ensuring that content is engaging and accurate, and overseeing site analytics to monitor KPIs that measure effectiveness and ensure growth of audiences is in line with strategic objectives
  • Be the creative lead for digital activity including writing, designing, editing, as well as commissioning external suppliers
  • Be the digital champion internally, supporting colleagues by offering guidance on digital techniques and approaches and working collaboratively to ensure strong digital outputs
About you
We'd would love to talk to individuals with the following skills and experience about the position:
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role with a proven record of success in digital marketing
  • Relevant experience of developing and delivering a digital strategy, and ability to demonstrate an understanding of what makes an effective digital and social media presence
  • Advanced experience of website management, familiar with web design, a good working knowledge of WordPress CMS or similar
  • A strong understanding and experience of web optimisation, e-marketing, and social media.
  • Strong editorial, as well as both written and verbal communication skills, and extensive experience in developing and producing website content
  • Ability to analyse, summarise and communicate complex information in an easily accessible format, and judge relevance to the organisation and target audiences.
  • Ability to lead creative and message development for campaigns and calls to action across digital and social media channels and tailor communications to different target audiences
  • Strong graphic design skills (ideally digital and print) and sound working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Sound working knowledge of e-marketing software such as Dotdigital and/or Mailchimp
  • Ability to analyse information and data to track the impact of marketing communications/ campaigns and robust monitoring and evaluation skills.
