Navantia UK is seeking an experienced
Dimensional Control Surveyor
to ensure precision and quality in shipbuilding and heavy fabrication projects. You'll use advanced industrial measurement equipment to verify, align, and inspect structures, machinery foundations, and other complex assemblies from fabrication through final construction.
This is a hands-on role where your attention to detail directly impacts the quality, safety, and performance of our vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform
industrial measurement surveys
on ships and in-process assemblies.
Align and verify structures, weapon system foundations, and machinery foundations.
Review tolerances and recommend improvements to
construction methods
.
Work closely with engineers, welders, and technical teams to ensure build accuracy.
Carry out
dimensional checks
, visual inspections, and performance testing.
Maintain and calibrate measurement equipment.
Ensure compliance with
HSE regulations
, PPE use, and safe operating procedures.
What You'll Bring:
Proven background in
dimensional control
, metrology, or precision surveying in shipbuilding, fabrication, or heavy engineering.
Skilled in industrial measurement tools and accuracy control techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Comfortable working in challenging environments, including confined spaces and at height.
Physically able to meet job demands (lifting 25-50 lbs, climbing ladders, etc.).

Relevant Degree or experience in an appropriate field
Experience
Two or more years' experience surveying fabricated structures or vessels
Knowledge of welding, assembly procedures, and erection sequence.
Knowledge of structural design.
Ability to interpret drawings and CAD model
Surveying experience
Skills/Competencies
Familiarity with shipbuilding practices preferred.
Competent user of Surveying Instruments (Total Stations, Theodolites, Precision Levels), and AutoCAD.
A detail-oriented individual committed to accuracy, even in challenging environments.
A fast learner with a strong desire to explore the intricacies of dimensional control and metrology.
A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex data into actionable insights.
Competent Microsoft Office user
Must have strong Microsoft Office Suites computer skills.
