Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to join our team, responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant repair and calibration of goods and inspection services. This role supports the Head of Laboratory, Team Leader, and Quality Department, ensuring high standards in calibration, inspection, and testing techniques. Key responsibilities include technician training, risk assessments, maintaining accurate records, and promoting a clean and safe working environment. The successful candidate will also liaise with suppliers, assist other departments, and use data analysis and technology to meet production goals and enhance customer experience.

Responsible for:



The safe, efficient and compliant repair and calibration of goods and inspection services

Duties will include:



Provide support to the Head of Laboratory/Team Leader and Quality Department Maintain an effective working knowledge of techniques and trends in Calibration, Inspection and Testing techniques Provide administration support, including assisting in the development of techniques, quality assurance and control procedures etc in line with the company's cost and business strategies Carry out onsite and inhouse testing, calibration and inspections where necessary and appropriate the repair of instruments and components. All done to a high standard whilst delivering production and turnaround of services within client's and the company's requirements (agreed KPIs) Train and mentor trainee Technicians, providing guidance in the execution of their daily duties Assist Head of Laboratory/Team Leader in quoting, developing risk assessments, inspection, calibration, testing techniques for bespoke works Assist with the design, manufacture, test, calibration, inspection rigs; consult with subcontractors, suppliers, and any external agencies providing technical support Ensure all methods and work are consistently carried out in accordance with the company's quality documentation and quality manual Liaise with the quality department to ensure all non-compliances are dealt with efficiently and effectively Promote the company at all times and maintain awareness amongst colleagues of the requirements for a professional attitude toward work Carry out necessary and appropriate calibration of instruments and components in a safe and timely manner Follow processes for accurate recording of job information at different stages of the calibration process Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment for staff in accordance with current Health & Safety regulations Lend help to other departments where necessary by liaising with suppliers, booking equipment, and offering responses to technical queries Understand the needs of the business and customer requirements and respond appropriately
Reporting:

Analyse data trends and qualitative information to ensure production and quality objectives are met commercially
Quality:

Provide a client management role that conforms in every detail to the Quality Manual and relevant company procedures
Communication:

Provide high-level communication using technology (email, telephone) to enhance customer and supplier experience
Information Technology:

Use and develop software to meet job requirements regarding repair and calibration

Person Specification



Hold sufficient relevant experience in the inspection and calibration of instruments, components, and measuring devices and equipment within a relevant field Have relevant experience working with equipment and understand the relevant safety requirements of the equipment A positive, confident, and determined approach with a high level of self-motivation Ability to understand technical data; methodical at problem solving and pays good attention to detail Capable of following procedures accurately Able to work in a busy environment, remaining calm and keeping a positive attitude Commercial awareness to ensure a cost-effective approach Displays a sense of urgency, is able to multi-task, and has the ability to perform under pressure to action requests in a timely and proactive manner Has an ability to work on own initiative, whilst maintaining team spirit Is able to show flexibility in order to adapt to the ever-changing needs and demands of the role
Qualifications:

Experience / Level 3 in Engineering
