Director Of Growing

England, United Kingdom

Job Description

An attractive salary is on offer for this role, it\'s a critical one within the business and they want to make sure the remuneration matches the challenge.

Roles at this level don\'t come around very often, but you already know that.

Businesses usually promote internally for roles at this level, but as it\'s a new role for them, they want a fresh face, new ideas and someone who can make positive change.

Picture this.

You\'re already working in a commercial growing environment and getting to spread your enthusiasm and knowledge across a couple of sites.

But you know you\'re capable of more. What if you can do this across several sites? What if you can sit on the Senior Leadership Board, and be able to influence change from the top down? What if all your ideas that have previously been disregarded, you can now implement?

The role will see you spending time across various nurseries and packhouses. You\'ll be meeting with the team, understanding what works well and implementing business standard best practices across the whole business.

You\'ll be the kind of person that enjoys influencing other stakeholders when it comes to best practices, new technology or continuous improvement.

They specialise in growing protected salad crops, so understanding the demands of supermarkets and how this filters down to the growers is important. Having worked in glasshouse environments and understanding modern technologies will support you in this role.

This role is a critical one for the business. As you will manage several nurseries and the people within them, communication is key. You\'ll be holding your team to account, managing performance and support with recruitment as needed.

Because these nurseries are spread across England, you could be based anywhere. You will be visiting multiple sites regularly, so there will be a lot of travelling involved.
