Director Of Open Banking

London, United Kingdom

Job Description

About us

At GoCardless we believe bank payments are the best way to pay and get paid. We also believe that bank account data is a powerful tool to make better, faster decisions. We\'re making it easy to use both- for businesses everywhere.

GoCardless is used for domestic and international payments by 75,000+ organisations and counting, processing more than $30 billion across 30 countries. We\'re an award-winning London based fintech, with additional offices in Riga, Paris and Melbourne.

The role

GoCardless has been at the forefront of payments for over a decade; as Director - Real-time Payments you\'ll play an essential role in accelerating our progress by developing and implementing our strategy for real-time bank payments, like Open Banking in the UK, PayTo in Australia, FedNow/RTP in the United States.

You\'ll be expected to define our approach to integrating real-time capabilities into GoCardless and work with a tightly knit group, made up of people from both commercial and product development teams, to execute on this. You will be held accountable for ensuring that we build commercially successful products that our customers love and will be able to leverage both your immediate team and the wealth of payments experience that GoCardless has to achieve this.

You will need to be a well-rounded leader who can motivate a team and evangelise real-time payments. You\'ll have the opportunity to lead at all stages as we take our products to market, so you\'ll be equally comfortable pitching GoCardless directly to customers, as you are developing go-to-market strategy and working with designers, product managers and engineers to develop the best proposition.

What excites you

  • Payments! Specifically the developments in real-time bank payments technologies around the world
Significant independence and responsibility to set the direction of and ensure delivery of a key pillar of GoCardless\'s strategy
  • Extremely cross-functional work - getting buy-in from those who report to you, those you work closely with and many other teams across the business spanning commercial, regulatory, legal, partnerships and product development teams
  • The product development process: getting hands on in taking customer feedback, using it to define our payments proposition and, ultimately, talking to customers and getting products in their hands
  • Developing the market for real time payments - you thrive in commercial environments, whether speaking with industry bodies or pitching to prospects, you love winning new business and closing deals
What excites us
  • As the catalyst for future progress in this area, we expect you to have extensive experience in real-time bank payments and have strong relationships within the ecosystem, specifically in Europe
  • You have hands on experience building a product with a software engineering team - you don\'t have to be a product manager, but you should have the skills to break down a problem and know how to run customer interviews effectively
  • Your experience in a commercial environment. The role will expect you to get out and build a market for new products, which will include managing the sales process for some of our most strategically important customers
  • You want to take ownership - whether that\'s setting the strategy, getting buy-in from others or selling the product, you have a lot of room to have an impact and you\'ll be expected to find the best way of achieving it
  • Experience in working with and influencing senior business leaders to get endorsement for your strategies and plans
We don\'t expect you to meet every requirement. If you\'re excited by this role, we encourage you to apply.

(some of) The good stuff
  • Wellbeing - stay healthy with dedicated support and medical cover
  • Work away scheme - you can apply to work away from your country of residence for up to 90 days in any 12 month period
