We have an exciting and unique opportunity which has arisen for a Director of Studies. This position is the Senior Leadership post overseeing the University of Lincoln\xe2\x80\x99s Maritime Studies Centre at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, Devon.

The University of Lincoln is the Higher Education partner in the Team Fisher consortium which is tasked with delivering and modernising Royal Navy training and education through \xe2\x80\x98Project Selborne\xe2\x80\x99.

The Director of Studies is the leader and manager of the University of Lincoln\xe2\x80\x99s academic colleagues at BRNC Dartmouth and oversees a team of about twenty full time and associate lecturers. Working to the University\xe2\x80\x99s overall Selborne Programme Director, the Director of Studies is also a key senior leader within the University, Team Fisher and the College.

The University is seeking someone with proven or potential academic leadership skills to lead the Maritime Studies Centre as Project Selborne enters its second phase with a focus on educational modernisation. You will have strong collaborative and inter-personal skills and will be able to plan and deliver long-term change while overseeing and maintaining quality. You also have a proven track record in academic delivery in one of the five core subjects listed above, or a related subject, delivering lectures where required.

You will have a relevant PhD or equivalent in a related discipline. A Post-graduate qualification or equivalent in Higher Education or Teaching and Learning is highly desirable but if not possessed we will support you to achieve this through Higher Education Association (HEA) status or another programme.

A key part of the University\xe2\x80\x99s role is to deliver education in core academic disciplines to Royal Navy officers undergoing training at Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC). These subjects bridge arts and sciences, theory and practice, and include Strategic Studies and International Affairs; Maritime Security Studies and Naval History; Ship Stability; Meteorology & Oceanography; Sensors & Telecommunications (including satellite technology). These are delivered within the professional pathway for Royal Navy officers and, in many cases, lead to the award of Level 5 and Level 6-degree qualifications.
