About IT Services

IT Services at the University of Manchester is a vibrant and fast-moving department, we focus on delivering excellent customer service and quality services for our staff, students and researchers.

The Team

The Directorate Support Team sits within the Governance, Risk, Compliance and Administration division within IT services and the team consists of five Directorate Support Officers who provide excellent administrative support services across the Directorate.

The Role

The primary aim of this role is to provide comprehensive and proactive PA and administrative support to the Director of IT Services. The role will involve diary and email management, organisation and support for meeting and events including minute taking and management of action logs for executive meetings. Arranging travel bookings and hotels and support for processing expenses, arrangement of interviews for senior leadership roles within IT and general office and facilities related support. The post holder will also liaise closely with Executive Assistants, PA\'s and senior colleagues across the University.

This is a dynamic and exciting role and will involve considerable flexibility and the ability to prioritise tasks to deliver both PA and administrative support to the Directorate.

The Person

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Significant skills and experience of supporting senior level staff, including workload planning and prioritisation.
  • Experience of administration and financial activities.
  • Experience in diary management, travel arrangements, meeting preparation and minute taking
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and working to tight and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
  • The ability to work well within a team but also a with a degree of autonomy in organising and planning their own workloads.

As this role involves research at a postgraduate level, applicants who are not an EEA national or a national of an exempt country and who will require sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route of the UK Visas and Immigration\'s (UKVI) Points Based System in order to take up the role, will be required to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) Certificate and will need to obtain this prior to making any official visa application UKVI)
