Director/Senior Director, Business Partner \xe2\x80\x93 UK Services This is a new position in the UK team, acting as the Business Partner to the Country Manager (CM) & Regional Finance Director (RFD) for Value Delivery Centre (VDC)-related business development activities in the UK, ensuring that commercial (business and sales) performance with local clients, including priority accounts, is optimised within the global matrix operating model.

In this role, you will partner with the CM to oversee the activities of local practice area leads/departmental heads and to provide the in-country strategic oversight and point of local escalation for global Practice Area Heads and/or local practice area leads where required, e.g. in relation to client delivery, recruitment, cross-VDC topics - in accordance with the global strategy and operating model.


Your Job
Service Delivery-related (external and internal):

  • Oversee the work of the local practice area leads in the execution of their objectives (delivery, recruitment and development of resources, employee retention, etc) at the local level in accordance with the global strategy and operating model.
  • Oversee the interfaces between local departmental heads, team leaders, Finance and business support, and global PAHs to ensure the optimal efficiency and commercial success of the VDC organisations in the UK with respect to locally-run clients/projects and priority accounts.
  • Collaborate with the CM when acting as the local point of escalation in particular for, but not limited to, cross-VDC projects
  • Provide and engender a cross-VDC approach in the region to maximise synergies and commercial development, e.g. cross-selling opportunities.
  • Champion best practices across local VDC services and processes, aligning with the Practice Areas as the global organisation delivers its industry-leading experiences and service standards for our clients.
  • Oversee the local practice area heads in their role of monitoring local external regulatory developments (all VDCs) as they ensure our local service resources and solutions in and across all VDCs remain relevant to our market and give PLx competitive advantage extending local market penetration.
Business-related:
  • Working under the direction of the CM and with Regional Sales, take a proactive leadership role in ensuring effective priority account development in line with or exceeding growth objectives.
  • Take direct ownership of, and develop, assigned priority accounts, where appropriate.
  • Be a driving force supporting Regional Sales for local sales success and external revenue development with UK (prospective) clients by ensuring timely and relevant VDC-related inputs.
  • Ensure coherency in cross-VDC inputs into proposals for local clients/projects, in line with the global delivery model, where applicable.
  • Support the global VDC Heads, PAHs and CM in business optimisation linked to service-related KPIs in the UK, e.g. follow their and direction to promote the behaviours required for achievement of attrition, operative utilisation and recoverability goals throughout the local delivery teams.
  • Oversee the local practice area leads in maximising gross profit of local clients/projects as they work with the global VDC Heads, PAHs, etc to increase revenue while controlling cost of sales.
  • Assist the CM and RFD by controlling local, service-related OPEX and maximising return on investments, where appropriate.
  • Support the global VDC Heads and PAHs by overseeing the appropriate local participation in global processes for right-first-time local VDC/practical area leads\xe2\x80\x99 inputs, e.g. for reporting, capacity planning and forecasting.
  • With the CM, escalate if, after practice area/departmental head-level intervention/escalation, local utilisation margins continue to demonstrate negative trends.
  • Review and approve project documentation (e.g. new project forms) and local new business proposals.
Other:
  • Responsible for ensuring cross-VDC Corporate Compliance in the UK and leading on related service Compliance initiatives.
  • Support Finance with cross-VDC input on invoicing.
  • Provide cross-VDC representation on the Regional Senior Leadership Team.
  • Local process efficiencies and steps to maximise the quality of local data inputs in line with the above Main Tasks and under global processes.
  • With the CM, approaches to optimise priority account development.

Your Profile
  • Significant demonstrable experience in at least one of regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance and/or development consulting.
  • Experience of working in a management role in a service-based life sciences business with a strong understanding of the KPIs that drive financial and commercial success and the skills to leverage this understanding within the global operating model.
  • Business and financial acumen.

  • Adept at working in a dynamic global matrix environment and cognisant of the scope of job holders\xe2\x80\x99 roles within the global operating model.
