The Role
As a classroom-based Disability Support Worker, you'll support pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them engage in learning and daily routines. Many learners have complex physical, sensory, or communication needs, requiring a calm, responsive, and adaptable approach. You'll be an essential part of a consistent support team, helping each child access education in a way that works for them.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting pupils with profound or multiple learning difficulties in classroom activities.
Providing dignified assistance with personal care, feeding, and mobility.
Using visual aids, sensory tools, and alternative communication methods.
Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation in a structured, therapeutic setting.
Working alongside teachers, therapists, and fellow support staff to deliver high-quality, personalised support.
The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed
This role is ideal for those with care or support experience ready to move into education. We're looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting individuals with disabilities or complex needs.
Holds a relevant qualification in care, health and social care, social work, or a related field (as required for specialist settings).
Is calm, patient, and committed to treating all pupils with dignity and respect.
Works effectively within a team and follows individualised support plans.
Is confident supporting personal care and understands the importance of routine and consistency.
Brings enthusiasm, empathy, and a desire to help children flourish.

Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30?am-3.30?pm. Both full-time and part-time applications are welcome.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
