Purpose of the role:



Leading the Ashtons Dispensary Operations function in order to meet the highest quality standards and patient care, comprising of: -

Prescription Services: responsible for the accurate processing and clinical screening of prescriptions and Medication Administration Records

Dispensary Services: a distance selling pharmacy responsible for the accurate dispensing and checking of prescriptions

Principal Accountabilities:



To take personal accountability to ensure the Dispensary Operations function operates ethically and in line with company Standard Operating Procedures and meeting regulatory standards

Collaborate with key stakeholders as required to ensure the smooth operation of the Dispensary Operations team, to identify opportunities for support of neighbouring teams where appropriate and to feed into continuous improvement activities

Responsible for the training, coaching and mentoring framework across Dispensary Operations; to enable the function to deliver the highest standard of care to patients, across a range of order types including regular NHS cycle prescriptions, named patient orders, TTOs, controlled drugs and Clozapine programmes

To own the suite of robust and accurate Standard Operating Procedures for the Dispensary Operations function, with approval by the Quality team and Chief Pharmacist

To drive continuous improvement across the function, identifying small/tactical to large/strategic opportunities for change and driving delivery with input from key stakeholders where required

To oversee the resource planning of the function, to ensure adequate coverage of suitably qualified staff at all times, to delegate and allocate work via direct and indirect reports to ensure all orders and prescriptions are processed appropriately

To oversee the maintenance of accurate records of controlled substances at all times and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

Ensure the dispensing robot is operated correctly and is effectively utilised

Follow our company Standard Operating Procedures and observing the GPhC principals and standards, and ensuring effective use of systems and technology

Leadership Accountabilities:



Provide strong leadership, promoting a positive work environment, fostering teamwork and collaboration with all other departments within Ashtons

Foster professional development and provide guidance to staff members, facilitating their growth and maximizing their potential

Be responsible for managing performance and personal development of direct and indirect reports, including completion of appraisals, service improvement objectives and personal development plans

Lead on ensuring all HR policies and procedures are adhered to for all direct and indirect reports, including absence management, sickness, capability and disciplinary policies

Oversight of day to day performance of assigned staff to meet assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

Act as Escalation point for all assigned Team Leaders and indirect reports, and cascading information as required

Be accountable for the thorough investigation and resolution of complaints, errors or processing issues as required

To be responsible for the maintenance of robust and accurate Standard Operating Procedures, with approval by the Quality team and Chief Pharmacist

Responsible for the implementation of quality control measures to minimize errors and maintain the highest standards of patient safety

Stay up to date with relevant regulations, guidelines, and best practices, and ensure adherence to them

Collaborate with regulatory bodies during inspections and audits, implementing corrective actions as necessary

Adhere to our company and external Health & Safety Standards; including taking reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of colleagues, cooperating with management and following instructions, completing the provided training, and prompt reporting of any hazards, illnesses or injuries

Adhere to our company Data Protection procedures; including the completion of annual training, using the provided secure ways to handle and dispose of data, and prompt reporting of any suspected data breaches

Help keep the business environment clean and tidy, be responsible for keeping own and surrounding areas clutter free, working within cleaning schedules as required.

Essential Education, Experience and Skills:



Education

MPharm degree or equivalent, and a Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Experience

Minimum two years of experience in leading a Pharmacy dispensing team or service

Detailed understanding of the GPhC principals and standards

Proven experience at driving positive change within Pharmacy environments.

Fluent in the English language Excellent organisational and leadership abilities, with an ability to learn and adapt quickly Strong communication and people skills Logical thinker and adept at creating or maintaining procedural documentation Experienced at implementing change to improve efficiency in people and processes Commercially aware, with an entrepreneurial approach Calm under pressure and skilled at prioritising conflicting priorities Excellent time management and organisation, with an independent work ethic Technically strong, with familiarity with MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Salary up to 60k PA depending on experience
