We are seeking a skilled Dispute Resolution Paralegal to join our dynamic team in Horsham.
Role Overview
The Dispute Resolution Paralegal will support our legal team in managing a diverse caseload of dispute resolution matters, including civil litigation, commercial disputes, and mediation. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Case Preparation
: Assist solicitors in preparing legal documents, including pleadings, witness statements, and bundles for court proceedings.
Research
: Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to dispute resolution matters.
Client Liaison
: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide case updates, and coordinate meetings or hearings, maintaining a professional and empathetic approach.
Document Management
: Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with confidentiality requirements.
Court Support
: Assist with preparing for hearings, including liaising with courts, counsel, and other parties, and attending court when required.
Administrative Tasks
: Handle correspondence, schedule appointments, and perform other administrative duties to support the Dispute Resolution team.
Compliance
: Ensure all work adheres to regulatory and firm standards, including time recording and billing processes.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential
:
A law degree, Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), or equivalent legal qualification.
Previous experience as a paralegal or in a similar legal support role, preferably in dispute resolution or litigation.
Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret legal documents and case law.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and case management systems.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
Desirable
:
Knowledge of civil procedure rules and litigation processes.
Experience with alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation or arbitration.
Familiarity with the Horsham legal market or local court systems.
Working Hours and Location
Hours
: Flexible hours, to be agreed upon with the successful candidate. Part-time or full-time arrangements may be considered, with a focus on accommodating work-life balance.
Location
: Based at our Horsham office. Some remote working may be possible, subject to agreement and case requirements. Candidates must be able to commute to Horsham as needed.
