Role Overview



We are seeking an organised and compassionate

Donor Relations Officer

to help build and maintain meaningful relationships with our donors and partners. You will act as the key point of contact for individual and major donors, ensuring they receive timely updates, personalised communication, and excellent care.

You will also play an essential role in managing donor data, providing project feedback, supporting partnerships, and ensuring all activity is fully compliant with

GDPR

and data protection standards. The role requires

occasional travel within the UK

for events or donor engagement activities.

Key Responsibilities



Donor Communication & Support



Maintain regular communication with individual donors, major donors, and partner organisations via email, phone, and in person where needed. Provide timely, personalised feedback on funded projects, including reports, images, and outcomes. Respond to donor enquiries, process acknowledgements, and ensure high standards of supporter care.

Data Management & GDPR Compliance



Maintain accurate donor records using CRM/database systems. Ensure all donor data is handled securely and in full compliance with

GDPR

and internal data protection policies. Produce reports and insights on donor behaviour, engagement, and giving trends. Carry out

data cleansing

tasks to ensure data accuracy and quality.

Major Donor & Partnership Relations



Support the cultivation and stewardship of major donors and high-value supporters. Liaise with community groups, businesses, and charitable partners, ensuring clear communication and effective follow-up. Coordinate reports and recognition materials for strategic and long-term supporters.

Support for Campaigns & Fundraising



Work collaboratively with the fundraising team to coordinate donor communications during key campaigns (e.g. Ramadan, Winter Appeal, Emergency Appeals). Help draft and distribute appeal updates, impact reports, and thank-you communications. Attend UK-based community events, fundraising dinners, and donor engagement sessions when required.

Occasional UK Travel



Participate in occasional

UK travel only

to meet donors, attend events, or support project visits where relevant.

Person Specification



Essential:



Minimum 2 years' experience in donor relations, customer service, or supporter care Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

, including data sorting, filtering, and basic formulas Experience with

data cleansing

and donor database management Working knowledge of

GDPR compliance

and data protection principles Ability to build relationships with a diverse range of donors

Understanding of Islamic giving practices

, including Zakat, Sadaqah, and Qurbani

Desirable:



Experience using CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, Beacon, Donorfy) Background in humanitarian or international development work Familiarity with impact reporting and donor retention strategies A passion for tackling food insecurity and promoting social justice

What We Offer



Salary:

30,000 - 35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
