Driver / Labourer - Job Specification
Role Purpose
To support daily operations by safely transporting materials, equipment, and personnel, while carrying out general labouring duties on-site. The role ensures efficient logistics, safe handling of loads, and high standards of site support.
Key Responsibilities
Driving & Transport
Operate company vehicles to transport materials, tools, and equipment between yard, sites, and suppliers.
Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects immediately.
Ensure loads are secured, balanced, and compliant with transport regulations.
Maintain accurate delivery/collection records and communicate delays or issues promptly.
Uphold safe driving practices at all times.
Labouring & Site Support
Assist scaffolders or site teams with manual handling, loading/unloading, and material organisation.
Maintain tidy, safe working areas in yard and on-site.
Support erection/dismantling teams by preparing materials and following instructions.
Carry out basic maintenance, cleaning, and housekeeping tasks.
Follow all site rules, RAMS, and toolbox talk guidance.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to company safety policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
Use correct PPE and report hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions.
Participate in safety briefings, inductions, and training sessions.
Assist with vehicle, yard, and equipment inspections as required.
Communication & Conduct
Represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, the public, and site teams.
Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding progress, issues, or resource needs.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture.
Essential Skills & Experience
Full UK driving licence.
Experience in construction, scaffolding, or manual labour roles.
Strong awareness of health & safety requirements.
Ability to lift, carry, and handle materials safely.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications
CSCS Labourer Card.
Manual handling training.
Basic scaffold awareness or industry experience.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry loads safely.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Fit for work in line with company health surveillance requirements.
Working Hours & Conditions
Standard hours: 7:30am - 4pm Mon - Thursday, Friday 7:30am - 3pm
Overtime or early starts may be required depending on operational needs.
Work involves travel between sites and manual labour in yard/site environments.
