Driver / Yard Assistant
Job Description
We are looking for a full time Van Driver and Yard Assistant for our Bognor Builders Merchant. The successful applicant needs to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the building trade. While this role is likely to be mainly involve driving a flat bed van, the successful candidate will need to be flexible to what customers or the branch needs and the role will involve some work assisting in our yard where needed.
Gardner & Scardifield is a local family owned Builders Merchants, Electrical Wholesalers and DIY Suppliers based in Lancing, but operating throughout Sussex. We have a long and fascinating history of circa 100 years, and have been under current ownership since the 1970's.

Responsibilities and Duties
Ensuring all deliveries are well organised, delivered in a timely fashion and given to the customer in an excellent condition Delivering the high quality customer service Gardner and Scardifield strives to always achieve Be a good representative of the company when driving company vehicles, handling all customers, suppliers, colleagues and other road users with courtesy at all times Support the organisation of the yard and deliveries, keeping the yard in good and clean condition Carry out general maintenance to vehicles (e.g. greasing, fluid levels) and ensure cleanliness of vehicle Awareness of own safety and ability to see the yard operate in a safe manner at all times, adhering to all Health & Safety requirements
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
Drivers licence
Excellent customer service skills
Organised and Punctual
Good Communication skills
An enthusiasm for teamwork, to work hard and learn
Capacity to lift 20-25 Kg
Beneficial
