Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated drone pilot, preferably with swarm flight experience (although not essential).
In this role, you will operate and test advanced multi-drone systems, piloting both individual flights and synchronised swarm operations.
You'll collaborate with our engineering and creative teams to test new flight animations, test experimental drone technologies, and contribute to the evolution of our aerial platform.
Requirements
NOTE: Candidates must be within a commutable distance from our Bristol office. Day to day fleet testing takes place near Future Space, Bristol, BS34 8RB. Show delivery is across the UK, Europe and UAE.
Key Responsibilities
Flight Testing & Evaluation: Execute structured test flights of individual drones and swarm prototypes in collaboration with engineering and software teams.
Organise the flight delivery team assisting with acquiring temporary pilots and ground crew for shows
Hardware Management: Help maintain drone fleets, ground control systems, and charging systems used in development environments.
Compliance & Safety: Operate under strict adherence to safety protocols and UK aviation regulations during all test operations.
Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of test flights, faults, and environmental conditions for internal reports and future reference.
Prototype Flight Support: Pilot prototype flights to validate new R&D features developed by the engineering and/or creative teams.
System Feedback: Provide detailed feedback on system stability, flight characteristics, and pilot experience to support iterative development.
Pre-Flight & Setup: Assist with flight preparation including checklists, hardware setup, airspace checks, and risk assessments.
Technical Troubleshooting: Monitor in-flight performance, flag anomalies, and support diagnostics and recovery procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
A valid CAA General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC).
Proven experience in manual and semi-autonomous drone operations, ideally within live events
Comfortable flying both individual drones and coordinated multi-drone formations, with a strong sense of spatial awareness.
A clear understanding of UAS safety protocols, flight planning, and emergency procedures.
Demonstrated knowledge of CAA and EASA regulations relevant to drone operations.
Strong collaboration skills - able to work alongside engineers, software developers, and show producers under real-time constraints.
Willingness to travel for field testing, live shows, or location-based deployments.
A proactive and adaptable mindset - comfortable with experimental workflows, iterative testing, and fast-paced development cycles.
Full driving licence UK and own car
