We are seeking a dedicated and proactive labourer to support our team of Duct fitters in the installation of ductwork. This position involves assisting skilled ductfitters, performing physical labour, and ensuring the worksite operates smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting Ductfitters: Provide support to skilled ductfitters by helping with the installation of ductwork systems.
Material Preparation: Prepare duct materials, tools, and equipment required for installation, such as cutting, measuring, and assembling duct sections.
Transportation of Materials: Load, unload, and transport duct materials and tools to designated areas on the construction site.
Site Safety: Ensure the worksite is clean, organized, and free of hazards to maintain a safe working environment.
Tools Management: Handle, maintain, and store tools and equipment properly to prevent damage or loss.
Basic Measurements and Adjustments: Perform basic cutting, measuring, and fitting tasks under supervision to assist with ductwork installation.
Communication: Collaborate with team members, including ductfitters and other labourers, to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
Duties
Assist in the repair and maintenance of equipment, ensuring all machinery operates effectively.
Interpret and work from schematics to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Support air conditioning system maintenance and repairs as needed.
Collaborate with team members to achieve operational goals and enhance productivity.
Provide leadership by guiding less experienced staff in equipment handling and maintenance practices.
Maintain an organised workspace, ensuring tools and materials are readily available for tasks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
CSCS Card - Mandatory.
Driving License - Mandatory
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labour, including lifting heavy materials and standing for long periods.
Basic Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with common tools used in ductwork installation, such as tape measures, hammers, and hand saws.
Attention to Detail: Accuracy in measuring and cutting materials to specifications.
Teamwork: Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others on site.
Willingness to Learn: Open to receiving instruction and developing skills under the guidance of experienced ductfitters.
Basic Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is usually preferred, though not mandatory.
Work Environment
Primarily outdoor and indoor construction sites, often in varying weather conditions.
May involve working at heights or in confined spaces, depending on the project requirements (we provide necessary training for this)
Work may include extended hours or weekends to meet project deadlines.
