Role Summary

Abingdon Sports and Leisure is seeking to appoint enthusiastic, motivated and flexible candidates to join our friendly team managing the operations of the Abingdon School Sports Centre on either a full-time or part-time basis. There may also be opportunities for candidates to work in Abingdon's facilities at Tilsley Park.


The Duty Manager role is very varied and offers a wide range of experience, with responsibilities including customer liaison, lifeguarding, handling both School use and external bookings as well as general administration. The successful candidates will be friendly and approachable team members, combining customer service with administrative skills and a good level of IT competency.

Previous experience and professional qualifications in the sports/leisure industry are preferred but are not essential for candidates who have the right qualities and aptitude. Applications are encouraged from candidates who already hold a valid National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ). Successful candidates who are not qualified lifeguards will need to have the ability to qualify within two months of commencing employment so ability to meet the lifeguard swimming competency requirements is essential.


Duty Managers work as part of a team on a variable shift pattern and therefore some early morning, evening and weekend work will be necessary.
