About the Role
We are seeking experienced and qualified
Specialist Study Skills Tutors
to provide one-to-one academic support to higher education students in receipt of
Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA)
. The role involves helping students with
Specific Learning Differences (SpLDs)
such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and ADHD to develop effective learning strategies and study skills that promote independent learning and academic success.
You will work with students
in person (across London)
delivering tailored sessions that meet DSA quality assurance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one study skills support for students with SpLDs.
Help learners develop strategies for reading, writing, organisation, time management, and critical thinking.
Maintain accurate records of sessions in line with DSA and GDPR requirements.
Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that promotes student confidence and independence.
Integrate assistive technology and inclusive learning tools where appropriate.
Essential Qualifications and/or Experience
A
Level 5 and or 7 qualification
in teaching and assessing learners with Specific Learning Differences (e.g. Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD).
Full
professional membership
with one or more of the following:
PATOSS, BDA, ADSHE, or Dyslexia Guild
.
Current SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate (APC)
desirable but not essential.
Experience working with university students or adult learners.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
Desirable
Familiarity with assistive software such as Read&Write, MindView, Grammarly, or Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
Experience delivering sessions 1-1 with students at University.
