Our brand new nursery is growing with new babies joining our nursery family. Due to increasing numbers on roll, we are ready to recruit our next little cohort of brilliant early years educators to help us provide our outstanding care.

Our new nursery is the talk of Ryedale, with expansive outdoor areas and incredible indoor environments it provides an exceptional working environment.

Person Specification

Preferred requirements of the post -

A relevant level 2 or 3 qualification, (e.g. B-tec, NNEB Diploma, NVQ level 3, etc.)

Alternatively, we offer an apprenticeship programme and will train you whilst you earn.

The ability to work positively and effectively both individually and as part of a team, cooperation and respect are essential.

Respect for all others within the setting, both adults and children.

Effective interpersonal skills, enabling positive communication with other members or staff, children, parents and visitors.

The ability to act flexibly adapting to changes within the setting, children and nursery.

Awareness of the importance of confidentiality enabling relevant information to be handled appropriately.

An awareness and understanding of all nursery policies, procedures and documentation with the ability to follow and comply without question.

An awareness and understanding of how to keep children safe from harm; recognising signs and symptoms of abuse and reporting concerns to the DSO.

Specific Duties include -:



1. Providing a safe and stimulating environment for children, ensuring the nursery room is fully appropriate for your key children dependant on their age and ability. This includes displaying children's work and providing attractive, informative displays.

2. To ensure all plans are completed and carried out appropriately within the given time, whilst evidence and evaluation must be documented. Practitioners must provide suitable activities and play opportunities both indoors and outdoors in order that children develop to their full potential; children should be scaffolded within their free-play enabling individuality of learning.

3. To act as a key worker to a given group of children, ensuring full awareness of each child's personal and educational needs, which should be met at all times. This will include completing written developmental records, observations, reviews, ILPP's, personal details and planning, and thorough assessments of children's learning.

4. To follow all relevant guidance regarding child care and development, including the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice, (directed by the SENCo); the Early Years Foundation Stage, Working together to Safeguard Children (2015).

5. To be actively involved with staff meetings and the review of nursery policies, procedures, self-evaluation and action planning.

6. Documentation such as medicine, accident and health and safety forms must be completed accurately and immediately ensuring all such documentation is signed by a parent / carer on the same day.

7. To be prepared for constant professional development, attend training, meetings and conferences.

8. All staff has a duty to safeguard and protect ALL children from harm, neglect, and abuse; every person working with children must continually update their training and awareness of current practice. Practitioners must have a full understanding of the safeguarding children practices with an awareness of how any child protection issues would be approached.

9. In connection with child protection all nursery staff are responsible for the continuous supervision of all children; children must be supervised at all times in order to ensure their complete safety.

10. All staff members must follow and comply with nursery documentation which includes all policies, procedures, health and safety documentation and the prospectus. Furthermore, any additional information or instructions given by a senior member of staff must be followed.

11. Equality of opportunity for all within the setting is essential. All staff members must conduct themselves in a non-discriminatory manner; whilst any form of prejudiced behaviour will not be tolerated.

12. Good time keeping and attendance is essential.

13. Room registers must be completed accurately and handed in to the manager at the end of each week; they must also be collected and used as evidence regarding the current children within the building during a fire/evacuation drill.

14. Staff members must positively communicate within both their own team of key workers and within the whole team; whilst any concerns, queries or problems should be immediately reported to the manager or deputy-manager.

15. Practitioners are expected to provide positive role-modelling for both the children and other adults.

16. Practitioners are expected to communicate effectively with parents and carers, acting friendly, approachable, confident and understanding is essential; whilst confidentiality must be considered at all times.

17. All areas within the nursery rooms, (both indoor and outdoor) reception and communal areas, cloakrooms and storage areas must be fully accessible to all children, maintained safely, and stimulating for children, parents and carers.

18. Practitioners must ensure that their key children are fully supported according to their toileting developmental stage. Children must be cleaned thoroughly and the appropriate level of support given in this area.

19. Thorough and accurate information must be shared with parents on collection of their child, detailing how the child has slept, what they have eaten, and what their play and learning has entailed that day.

20. To contribute to the safe preparation and serving of food to the children, ensuring their nutritional needs are met. From time to time prepare snacks etc.. Ensure that all children have unlimited access to fresh drinking water throughout the day.

21. Support children at meal times, ensuring the level of support promotes independence and progress in weaning stages.

21. Contribute to ensuring the cleanliness of the room and toilet facility.

22. Ensuring you are not engaged in any conversations with other staff in the room other than about the children in your care. Conversations about personal life can take place at lunchtimes.

Dress Code and Personal Conduct:



You will be expected:

1. To present a clean and smart appearance at all times:

Hair to be kept clean, neat and tidy.

A change of slippers to be worn in the nursery rooms at all times. No outdoor boots or shoes to be worn inside the nursery.

To ensure appropriate uniform (supplied) is worn with black trousers or skirts, no jeans. Tailored shorts (black) may be worn in the summer, minimum length, mid-thigh. Uniform must be worn at all times whilst on duty. The t-shirts, and fleeces provided remain the property of Puddleducks at all times. or other additional items of clothing should be worn.

Smart appearance is vital to maintain the professional image of the nursery.

These measures help us to meet the criteria as stated in Health and Safety at Work legislation and they also protect against injury to you and the children your care.

2. To establish and maintain good working relationships and ensure that care is taken when communicating with others to avoid any unnecessary conflict.

3. To encourage an atmosphere of co-operation and respect.

4. To ensure that a polite, courteous and helpful attitude is demonstrated at all times to the children, their parents/ carers and other staff members.

5. To maintain and respect confidentiality at all times.

6. To ensure that punctuality is maintained throughout the day. Holidays:

Emergency Procedures:

All staff must be aware of all company emergency procedures, including fire, first aid and safeguarding children.

Induction:

All staff members must complete the nursery induction process and read and be familiar with all company policies and procedures. All Health and Safety policies and documents must be read and understood and you will be requested to sign to state you have read and understood them.
