Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Room Leader to oversee the daily operations of our nursery. Wren House Nursery School is a small independently owned nursery located in the heart of Old Town, Eastbourne. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for working with children.

This role involves creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children, in a home from home environment, ensuring high standards of childcare and early childhood education are maintained and where children feel safe and secure. The Nursery Room Leader will also be responsible for supervising staff, engaging with parents, and supporting the professional development of team members.

Responsibilities



Lead and manage daily nursery activities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for children. Supervise and support nursery staff, providing guidance and mentorship to promote team cohesion and professional growth. Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities that foster children's development across all areas. Maintain accurate records of children's progress, attendance, and any incidents in compliance with regulatory standards. Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, behaviour, and any concerns. Ensure health and safety policies are strictly followed, including risk assessments and hygiene protocols. Organise staff rotas to ensure adequate coverage at all times. Support the onboarding and training of new team members. Assist with administrative tasks related to nursery operations as needed.

Skills



Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting. Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Extensive experience working with children, ideally within early childhood education or childcare environments. Knowledge of nursery regulations, health & safety standards, and best practices in childcare. Ability to organise tasks efficiently whilst maintaining attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, parents, and team members. Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.50-13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 40 per week
