Summary
To lead, support, and develop a group of 9 nurseries, ensuring high standards of care, education, and operational performance. The Area Manager will line manage Nursery Managers to oversee occupancy, staffing levels, budgets, and compliance with company policies and statutory requirements. This role involves regular nursery visits to maintain consistency, drive quality improvement, and support leadership teams in delivering outstanding early years provision.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Operational Oversight
Provide direct line management to Nursery Managers across the group.
Monitor and support the effective daily running of each nursery, ensuring high-quality outcomes for children and families.
Conduct regular site visits to provide mentoring, quality assurance, and leadership presence.
Occupancy & Business Performance
oMonitor and drive occupancy levels across all nurseries, working with managers to implement effective marketing and retention strategies.
Oversee nursery budgets and financial performance, ensuring profitability in line with agreed targets.
Analyse and report on profit and loss (P&L) across the group, identifying opportunities for growth and efficiency.
Staffing & People Management
Oversee staffing levels and structure, ensuring each nursery is appropriately staffed according to legal ratios and operational needs.
Support Nursery Managers in recruitment, performance management, training, and retention of staff.
Foster a positive and professional culture, promoting staff wellbeing, development, and accountability.
Compliance, Policies & Procedures
Ensure all nurseries are operating in full compliance with Ofsted standards, health and safety legislation, and company policies.
Regularly audit and review settings to maintain best practice and identify areas for improvement.
Support nursery teams in preparing for Ofsted inspections and maintaining high inspection outcomes.
Strategic Contribution
Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the nursery group.
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the sector and within the group's nurseries. o Collaborate with other senior leaders to implement improvement plans and innovations.
