Early Years Teaching Assistant - 2 Exciting New Roles Starting September



A welcoming specialist school near Whitehaven is looking for two compassionate and enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistants to join their team this September. These roles are perfect for anyone with a background in childcare, early years, or care who is passionate about helping young children with additional needs flourish.

The Role



In this rewarding position, you'll support children aged 2-5 in a structured yet nurturing environment, helping them learn, play, and grow during their earliest years.

Your day-to-day will include:

Supporting children with communication, social, and sensory needs Creating a safe, stimulating environment where children can learn through play Assisting with personal care routines in a respectful, caring way Working closely with teachers and therapists to deliver individualised learning plans Encouraging independence, confidence, and resilience from the very start of school life

Who We're Looking For



This role would suit someone who is caring, adaptable, and eager to support children's development. You may have experience in:

A childcare or Early Years qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent) Supporting young children in a nursery, school, or care setting Working with children with SEND (Autism, ADHD, developmental delay) Bringing a patient, positive, and child-centred approach to everything you do

This specialist provision is known for its warm, inclusive ethos and its dedication to giving every child the best possible start. Staff work closely with families and professionals--including speech and language therapists and occupational therapists--to create a safe, supportive journey tailored to each child's needs.

Location: Near Whitehaven
Start: September 2025
Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm, Monday-Friday (term time only)
Contract: Long-term temporary, with the potential to become permanent
Positions: 2 available (full-time and part-time applications welcome)

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
