Job Title: EC&I Design Engineer
Reports to: EC&I and Software Design Lead
Working Hours: 40 hours per week worked across 5 days - Monday-Friday
Location: Thyson Office in CH65 4LX, but will be expected to visit project sites across the UK occasionally.

Primary duties:

Design packs:

Develop clear and concise drawing and document packs and review existing packs with a keen eye for detail. Be able to assist in compilation of functional design specifications, FAT and SAT documents for analytical and metering systems.

Calculations

: carry out cable calculations, I.S Loop Calculations (DSDs), AC and DC load schedules, lighting calculations and thermal capacity calculations, and ensure their accuracy.

Advise

: Use your garnered knowledge to train and advise the Junior EC&I design engineers on engineering principals and guidelines. Attend client meetings and be comfortable representing the company when face to face with clients.

Bridge the gap

: Work closely with the site-based engineers and commissioning engineers to continuously improve our standards and help the design team to view their projects from multiple perspectives, including maintenance, shipping, and decommissioning.

Essential skills:

Must have at least 5 years' experience - ideally degree qualified or time served apprenticeship Must have demonstrable experience working on designs for hazardous areas installations and CompEx EX01-04 and/or EX12 modules are advantageous. Knowledge and experience on gas analytical and metering systems is highly advantageous but not essential. Should have experience or knowledge of electrical installations in accordance with BS7671 (18th Edition).
