Gillies of Broughty Ferry Limited is a long established Home Furnishings retailer with stores throughout the North and East of Scotland. Employing over 200 people, the business has been in the same family ownership since it started 130 years ago.

Throughout its existence, the company has offered high quality products and service to its customers, traditionally from its stores but increasingly in the last few years also through its online presence. Continuing expansion of the online offering has created an opportunity for the right person with the right experience to join the team at Gillies as Ecommerce Manager.

Overview



The Ecommerce Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing and managing the ecommerce function of the company with a significant online presence. The position is based at the company's Head Office in Broughty Ferry, Dundee.

Website



The Ecommerce Manager will have responsibility for the continuing development of the company's website, with a view to expanding the company's online Sales. This will entail working with our external web designers to provide our customers with an enjoyable online journey, whilst keeping abreast of new developments in ecommerce. The role will also entail ensuring that our web development maximises integration of our website with our ERP systems to promote efficiency within our back office systems.

Digital Marketing



The Ecommerce Manager will have responsibility for promoting the company's business on various digital advertising platforms as well as developing the company's strategy for online marketing. They will also be responsible for research and development of new technologies and approaches, and for training and developing the rest of the ecommerce team.

Requirements of the position



We are looking for someone who has experience within a similar ecommerce role.

The Ecommerce Manager position requires an organised, analytical person with strong technical skills, with the ability to multitask effectively and to problem-solve when needed. They must be able to manage a small team of people and delegate tasks based on skills. As they will be reporting to Senior Management on a regular basis, the Ecommerce Manager must possess a high standard of both written and verbal communication skills to ensure that ideas and strategies about technical matters are communicated effectively.

They must be able to demonstrate a strong grasp of modern technology and mainstream social media platforms. They must also have relevant experience of MS Excel, HTML, E-commerce Platforms, Financial Analysis, search engine optimization and Analytical Software, e.g. Google Analytics.

The job of an Ecommerce Manager can be unpredictable and working outwith normal office hours may be required from time to time, so a flexible approach is required. As retail markets can change quickly, new developments may require a quick overhaul of the company's strategy. Thus, the ideal candidate will be able to change strategies and rethink conventional wisdom at any time.

For this position we offer:
