What we want you to do:
Provide out of hours urgent social work services to vulnerable people to safeguard the liberty, well-being and safety of children, their families, and adults in need of urgent out of hours social care support.
Good awareness of local policies and procedures and will maintain accurate records, ensuring timely handover and information is fully understood by others. You will identify and highlight good practice, emerging research, case law and relevant policy changes with a focus on sharing skills and knowledge and promoting a consistent, good practice approach across the service.
Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure a safe emergency response working in partnership with families/carers and all key agencies in decision making and planning.
Joined up working with other colleagues in Children's Services, Adult Services and other Council services to promote high quality assessments, intervention and support. Including working with other out of hours colleagues, such as Care Call, out of hours housing/homeless services, EDT foster carers, Rapid Response out of hours home care support service, and intermediate care facility that provides urgent care for those at risk of hospital admission.
Identify and organise resources to meet assessed needs in an emergency. You will need to have a creative approach to ensure the welfare and safety of service users until the next working day.
Participate in training courses, elected and mandatory, to develop and maintain continued professional development required by the Council and professional standards bodies. To actively engage in supervision and service meetings as necessary.
To participate in the education of student social workers, mentoring sessional social workers, professionally supporting other Council services out of hours as a senior worker on shift (they is an on call rota for senior management support), and assisting in the induction of relevant colleagues.
You will support, develop and maintain the operations of the service as required in support of the team manager and service. You will work as part of a rota system covering out of hours including evenings, weekends, and bank holiday working as per the needs of the service, supported by the commitment of all participants to ensure the rota is covered at all times.
Work to professional standards when protecting vulnerable adults and children in line with statutory duties. You will undertake lone working and will work agilely and make use of associated technologies confidentially.

What you need to be successful ... the essentials:
Qualifications
Recognised Social Work Degree Qualification and post qualifying training
Possess university qualification necessary to practice as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)
Social Work England registration
Enhanced Disclose and Barring Service (DBS) clearance
Current driving licence and access to a car or mobility support
Knowledge
Often experienced social workers are either experienced in children or adult practice, knowledge of both is preferred but EDT can support knowledge development in unfamiliar practice areas for the right candidate.
