Using the brand of Blackburn Rovers FC and the power of football and sport for positive social change, we are seeking to appoint two Education and Sports Tutors.
Under the reasonable direction of the Head of Education, Skills & Training Services, the successful candidates will carry out the professional duties of a tutor and of a pastoral lead, where they will:
Provide quality teaching and learning for BTEC Level 1, 2 and 3 sport students and to support delivery of other Trust programmes when required.
Support in curriculum development, planning/scheduling, and ensuring the courses meet minimum requirements in relation to guided learning hours.
Manage and support student welfare activities including offering guidance to students in relation to bursaries, exam entries and any other issues that may need support.
Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.
Collate and monitor attendance data.
Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
Share and support the Trust's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The post holder will be responsible and accountable for:
Teaching of BTEC level 1, 2 and 3 in Sport. In addition to this, the post holder will be expected to support other Community Trust programmes.
Supporting delivery of USW Degree programme.
Working with other tutors and coaches to deliver high quality sports provision.
Supporting the delivery of Maths and English sessions where required, to ensure all learners meet the requirements of their study programme.
Contributing to the excellence of teaching and learning in BTEC Sport.
Contacting absent students and/or parents/carers to ensure regular contact and support can be given to all.
Working with other tutors and management to ensure that student welfare is given priority and that any student who requires additional support is offered it in a timely manner.
Ensuring that all contact with and arrangements for students and their welfare is safeguarded and promoted.
Acting as a personal tutor to students; supporting them to achieve their goals.
Participating in continuous professional development activities.
Promoting equal opportunities in service delivery and employment.
Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
Maintaining good order and discipline among the students and safeguard their health and safety both when they are on the Trust premises and when they are engaged in authorised Trust activities elsewhere.

Supporting on Blackburn Rovers FC match day activities as and when required.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience:
Essential
Teaching experience within post-16 education, with the ability to engage and motivate learners aged 16 and above.
Proven ability to assess and mark student work accurately in line with established assessment criteria.
Experience serving as a personal tutor or mentor, providing academic and pastoral support.
Experience in delivering and/or supporting the teaching of Functional Skills in Maths and English, with an understanding of the requirements and assessment methods involved.
Demonstrated ability to support and guide young people in a range of educational and personal development contexts.
Comprehensive and current knowledge of BTEC Sport specifications.
Understanding of assessment practices and internal/external verification processes associated with BTEC qualifications.
A creative and adaptable approach to delivering student support, with a focus on individual learning needs.
Strong communication skills, particularly when engaging with post-16 learners.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team of educational professionals.
Desirable:
Awareness and understanding of the unique needs, challenges, and aspirations of further education students.
Proficiency in the use of IT for teaching, learning, and administrative purposes.
Knowledge of Blackburn Rovers FC, Blackburn Rovers Community Trust, and their role within the local community.

Qualifications:
Essential
Teaching qualification at Level 4 or above (e.g. Certificate in Education, PGCE, or equivalent).
Degree in Sport or any other relevant field
Level 2 qualification in Sport (e.g. BTEC, NVQ, A-Level PE) or higher.
Maths and English GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).
Full UK Driving License
Desirable:
Assessor qualification (e.g. TAQA, A1, or equivalent).
Level 2 or 3 coaching certificate in one or more sports (e.g. FA Level 2).
Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if not already held at GCSE).
First Aid qualification.
D1 (Minibus driving licence)
Acceptance to complete mandatory training, there may be conditions attached to these training courses. (To be discussed at interview)
