Job Purpose
We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and creative Education Mentor to work on a one-to-one basis with a student at our farm site. The role involves providing both academic and pastoral support across a range of subjects including Maths, English, and PSHE, while also engaging students in hands-on animal care, horticulture, equine and farm-based learning activities.
You will play a key role in supporting the young person's wellbeing and personal growth, particularly those with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) or anxiety-related needs. An understanding of how OCD impacts daily routines and learning is essential, along with the ability to adapt support strategies to reduce distress and promote confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Apply understanding of OCD and sensory needs to provide consistent, supportive routines
Deliver engaging and differentiated 1:1 learning sessions in academic and vocational subjects
Support the young person to develop confidence and resilience through structured farm-based tasks
Manage behaviour effectively and promote a calm, positive learning environment
Provide emotional and pastoral support to help the young person regulate and engage in learning
Maintain up-to-date records, assessments, and evidence of progress
Collaborate closely with the wider team to ensure the young persons' academic, social, and safety needs are met consistently.
Other Duties May Include:
Supporting or delivering tutorial and enrichment activities
Assisting with farm duties, animal care, and outdoor learning sessions
Completing documentation related to student progress and safeguarding
Supporting or covering lessons if/when young person is absent
Participating in break and lunchtime duties if needed
Qualifications, Training, and Experience
Experience working with young people with SEND, particularly OCD or anxiety-related needs, is desirable
A good standard of Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent)
Confidence working in both classroom and outdoor/farm environments
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A nurturing, flexible, and proactive approach
