Job Description

Bensons is a leading UK designer and manufacturer of bespoke and high-quality electrical control panels and systems. We are trusted by companies in a diverse range of industries throughout the World, and to support our ongoing development and growth we are looking to recruit a pre-work production operative to join our Manufacturing Facility in Normanton.

The pre-work operative is a vital part member of our team, their role is to prepare all the panels before they enter the wiring stage. Our panels are custom-made and therefore vary in size and complexity, this variety of requirements means no day is the same. Key tasks for this role include:

- accurately cut and mount a range of components, cable trunking and brackets;

- manually cutting/drilling/finishing control panel doors;

- using technical drawings to determine the position and orientation of electrical components, mount and accurately label them;

- checking all paperwork and documentation is correct before passing fully assembled control panels to our team of wirers.

We use a variety of machines and tools to complete these tasks, from DIN rail cutters to busbar bending machines, and full training is given. Please note that an element of manual lifting is required.

A keen eye for detail is essential along with good communication skills, this role requires collaboration between Design, Quality, Production and Stores.

Success in the role is to work effectively within a small and dynamic team to support the wider manufacturing team in the manufacture of high-quality electrical control panels.

Working hours are as follows:

Monday to Thursday: 06:30 - 15:30

Friday: 06:30 - 12:00

Starting pay of 12.21, with flexibility dependent on skills and experience.

Desirable Skills



Able to interpret and follow engineering drawings Previous experience with electrical components
Training will be provided to address any skills gaps.
