The role
As an
Electrical Design Engineer
, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be part of the Combat System Design Change Team, supporting the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. You'll produce technical drawings and models for electrical installations and upgrades to submarine combat systems. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your work will directly contribute to national defence and safety. You'll grow your technical knowledge and continue your professional development within a supportive, multi-disciplinary engineering organisation.
Day to day, you'll be developing your technical knowledge and contribute to the engineering team by producing technical drawings and models for electrical installations and upgrades to submarine combat systems.
Creating 2D and 3D drawings and models to support system integration
Participating in on-board surveys and validation exercises
Applying best practices in the development of design and safety documentation
Supporting the production and quality assurance of technical documentation
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Electrical Design Engineer
Physically fit to go on board submarines to carry out tasks
Experience in 2D and 3D CAD software and electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD
Awareness of electrical installation practices and relevant legislation
Understanding of EMC, RFI/EMI, and safety culture
Experience in aerospace, nuclear or other highly regulated industries - Desirable
Qualifications for the Electrical Design Engineer
ONC with appropriate apprenticeship or equivalent experience
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
