Electrical Estimator

45,000 - 50,000 plus car allowance or vehicle
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing competitive and technically robust cost estimates for electrical building-services projects. Working under the guidance of the Design & Estimating Senior Manager, the role ensures all estimates reflect accurate quantities, validated designs, supplier inputs, and risk allowances through to project handover, to achieve the business units' annual targets.

1.1. Estimating & Pricing

Prepare detailed electrical take-offs from drawings and specifications. Price labour, materials, and plant in accordance with tender strategy. Build prelims, risk allowances, and value-engineering options. Develop and maintain benchmarking data to support pricing consistency.

1.2. Supplier & Subcontractor Engagement

Issue RFQs, analyse quotations, and recommend supplier/subcontractor selections. Validate design intent and perform mechanical calculations (cable sizing, load assessments, containment selection, etc.) where required.

1.3. Tender Documentation & Handover

Draft tender clarifications, exclusions, and assumptions. Assist in developing prelims inputs, tender programs, and risk/opportunity logs. Prepare the priced BOQ, quotes file, and scope summary for handover to Delivery.

1.4. Collaboration

Work closely with Mechanical & Electrical Estimators, Designers, and the Commercial & Controls team to ensure alignment across disciplines. Ensure technical compliance with standards (BS7671, CIBSE, etc).

1.5. Travel

Willing and able to travel to client and prospect sites. Occasionally willing to stay away from home overnight when required

Required Skills & Experience

Proven estimating experience within electrical building services and working in this capacity for a minimum of 5 years. Understanding of electrical systems design and installation (LV distribution, lighting, containment, controls, etc.). Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail. Familiarity with estimating software and cost databases. Knowledge of industry standards and building regulations. HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Building Services.
