You will manage daily electrical operations within a secure custodial facility, covering maintenance, installations, testing, and site coordination to ensure operational integrity, safety, and continuity in a Category?B prison.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate electricians and subcontractors for electrical tasks: lighting, fire alarms, secure power, CCTV, perimeter systems.
Ensure work meets specifications, milestones, and budgets, maintaining high standards of safety through RAMS, toolbox talks, and site meetings.
Perform inspections, risk assessments, fault diagnosis, commissioning, and snagging across electrical systems, including LV/AP & critical power .
Maintain site documentation: diaries, certificates, test results, handover logs.
Collaborate with M&E teams, facilities, security, estate managers, prison staff for seamless coordination.
Enforce compliance with BS?7671, relevant Building Regulations, security procedures, and Health & Safety standards.
Manage emergency on-call duties and out-of-hours response capability for electrical issues.
Required Experience & Qualifications
5+ years' experience as an Electrical or M&E Site Manager, ideally in custodial or high-security environments .
NVQ Level?3 / City & Guilds / HNC-HND or degree in Electrical/Building Services Engineering or Project Management.
Valid ECS/CSCS card and SMSTS (or SSSTS) certification; experience in LV/AP systems and secure installations.
Strong technical knowledge: BS?7671 wiring regs, secure power systems, test & inspection processes.
Excellent leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Full UK driving licence; existing or able to obtain relevant security clearance (EL1/EL2).
