Role Overview

Midland Medical Services Ltd is recruiting an

Electrical & Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

to support the safe operation of medical gas infrastructure and associated critical systems. This role focuses on

system integrity, electrical controls, alarms, distribution, and compliance

.

You will work on live healthcare sites, ensuring medical gas systems remain compliant, fault-free, and safe for clinical use.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and inspect piped medical gas distribution systems and associated plant Carry out planned preventative maintenance on: Medical gas manifolds and changeover systems Terminal units and ward equipment Alarm panels, control systems, and electrical interfaces Vacuum and air plant from a system-level perspective Perform fault-finding on electrical, control, and safety systems Verify system performance, alarms, and pressure integrity in line with standards Complete four scheduled PPM visits per year per contracted site Attend emergency breakdowns as part of a 24/7 on-call rota (1 week in 4-5) Produce accurate service reports and compliance documentation Work safely in clinical environments and liaise with hospital staff and estates teams
About You

Essential:

Electrical and mechanical engineering background Experience working with building services, control systems, or critical plant Strong understanding of fault diagnosis and system testing Professional, safety-focused approach when working in live environments

Desirable:

Experience with medical gas systems or healthcare estates Alarm systems, control panels, and electrical schematics Pneumatic or low-pressure gas systems
Full training will be provided on medical gas-specific equipment and standards.
