About the Role
We are seeking a practical and detail-oriented
Electronics Assembly & Test Technician
to join our friendly production team.
This hands-on role involves building and assembling custom cables, soldering and wiring connectors, testing powered products, and assisting in electro-mechanical product builds. You'll also support the inspection and repair of returned electronic products, including occasional surface-mount rework.
You'll be joining a small, close-knit production team, where you'll work closely with colleagues in various departments, such as Operations and Engineering. The role offers real variety and visibility across the business, ideal for someone who enjoys practical work and being part of a collaborative, flexible team.
This is a full-time position offering variety, stability, and training in a supportive work environment.
RequirementsEssential:
Strong soldering skills to IPC standards (through-hole and occasional SMT rework)
Experience with cable assembly, wiring and connector terminations
Ability to follow wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and written instructions
Familiarity with hand tools (e.g. soldering iron, wire strippers, crimp tools etc)
Good attention to detail and pride in high-quality work
Minimum 3 years of electronics experience
GCSE passes in English & Mathematics
Desirable:
Confident using basic test equipment (multimeters, power supplies)
Able to read and understand schematics or pinout tables
Comfortable providing feedback and writing simple reports
Key Responsibilities
Build cables from wiring diagrams using crimping, soldering, and heatshrink techniques
Solder connectors (e.g. Binder, Molex, Samtec) and wires to PCBs or assemblies
Assist with the assembly of electro-mechanical products and powered medical carts
Inspect and test finished electronic products
Survey and repair customer returns (RMAs), including replacing basic SMT components (e.g. resistors, capacitors)
Maintain inspection and test documentation for production and repairs
Provide feedback to Engineering on recurring issues and suggest improvements
Support development work, such as building test cables or helping validate design changes
