Job Description

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for Band 4 Emergency Department Technician (EDT), this is a new role being introduced to our Emergency department to support the care we give to patients , the role will be t o work as an EDT assisting the delivery of emergency care within a specialist area. To assist and support the medical and nursing staff working in the emergency department performing tasks and to perform blood test analysis in the ED PoCT laboratory according to standard operating procedures (SOP) and to carry out specialized testing at the request of the nursing and medical team. To contribute to the safe transfer of patients who are critically ill or injured with the London North West University hospitals trust.

The role would involve the following :



Performing sample analysis on ED lab analyzers in accordance with SOP's and specialist testing



Preparation of procedural trolleys and assist nursing medical staff in performing sterile clinical procedures



To provide support to nursing and medical team by assisting with the preparation and delivery of care for level 2/3 patients



To make sure maintenance of equipment is maintained to keep the department safe and patient's safe



To carry out audits and training in relation to equipment and safe use



To ensure appropriate prioritization of work load under direction of the nurse in charge.



To undertake venepuncture and cannulation for patients & obtaining results
