Job Description

Waltham International College is a provider of Higher and Further Education for adults that aims to integrate the talents of its students with their visions and aspirations to support them in their success.

A position has become available for an Employability and Placement Officer at the Birmingham Campus for an enthusiastic and motivated individual. To undertake a key role in assisting in the planning of placements, securing placements through liaison with employers, completion of relevant placement documentation including health and safety assessments, monitoring and validation of student hours and work experience on data systems.

To act as the primary contact between the students, and employers who provide placements. Primarily help to plan and organise employment and placements events with various employers, liaise with employers for vacancies/placements.

You will work closely with the Director of Employability and Placements, Employability and Placement Manager and the Academic tutors. While ensuring the efficiency and effective delivery in accordance with the College's strategies and policies which influence leading-edge practices.

Qualifications/Experience:



Degree essential or equivalent; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong team player Events Organising Experience Enhanced DBS

Duties

:

Overall responsibility for the administration of the placements, including advising companies, arranging interviews, and matching jobs to students to satisfy the needs of firms and students. Requirement for initiative, planning and tenacity, plus a high degree of understanding of a range of management functions and the content of the programme. Daily decision-making is required, as are diplomacy and sensitivity to the needs of both parties. Being the first point of contact for students with enquiries about placements. This will include providing job descriptions, application forms, and collecting and recording completed applications. Planning, coordinating, and supervising London and Birmingham placement support team Updating placement tracker with initial screening input data Account-managing companies offering placements. This will mean scheduling placements and maintaining the relationship. Overall responsibility for liaison with placement providers to ensure that all students secure suitable placements. Assist students/employers experiencing placement difficulties in liaison with other student support staff as appropriate. This requires specialist knowledge of recruitment criteria, the capacity to assess students' abilities and "profiles", and sensitivity to students' personal circumstances. Preparing and delivering materials for the Professional Experience and Personal Learning in accordance with Placement Operations Manager. Conducting and organising placement visits as advised by the Placements Manager Supporting the development of relationships with graduate employers. Bringing all aspects of the placements in line with quality assurance requirements, e.g. helping to set up a procedure by which all placement providers are checked for Employers Liability Insurance and H&S. Producing updated reports for management information. Completing projects and submitting written reports on findings and recommendations as requested. Maintaining relevant information, including placement announcements, company information, and student placement reports. Communicating with students, companies and staff via email, telephone and in-person to maintain relationships and manage the administrative and pastoral aspects of the role. Contributing material to the Placements Handbooks, given to each student when they join. This contains all the master forms and documents regarding placements, plus advice and a code of conduct. Representing the College at Open Days, and speaking to potential students with Admissions. Analysing and presenting data when required. Attendance monthly team meetings, submit monthly reports and prepare meeting minutes, and submit them to the central folder Coordinating with placement tutors on the operational sides of placement input from students Arranging meetings between PM and students and placement tutors Supporting Placement team for events and activities Compliance checks on support staff for admin responsibilities Updating Marks sheet for placement results and report to PM Working close to Employability lead and supporting for the tasks related to employability, job shop, SES, Alumni, graduate support and other areas defined in employability Ensuring to developing employability environment in Birmingham campus and syncing with London campus Arranging employer visits and supporting team Bringing new employer on board and supporting the entire employability focus at WIC Overall responsibility for the administration of the employability department, including advising students for careers, arranging and preparing for interviews, and matching jobs to students to satisfy the needs of firms and students.
