Role Purpose
To provide mid to senior level communications advice and to work with Enabling Function leaders and teams to enable development and delivery of effective employee communications to identified audiences.
This is a Hybrid role
What you'll be doing
As a key member of the Employee Communications team, the scope of this role includes, but is not limited to, the duties described below: Set, deliver and measure creative, clear and impactful communication strategies for Enabling Functions to reach a wide range of internal stakeholders
Provide advice and support on all communications issues
Work with senior leaders to define messaging and align communications outputs to Enabling Function objectives - ensuring that Enabling Function and corporate messaging is aligned and complementary
Work collaboratively with, and draw on expertise from, the Group Communications teams to deliver internal and external outputs for Enabling Function teams
Pro-actively identify potential news stories that can be used across Group channels to enhance Balfour Beatty's strategic positioning and have awareness to flag potential operational issues that could result in reputational risk
Oversee processes to ensure there is a regular pipeline of content for internal communications channels, ensuring it's on brand, accurate, and signed off by appropriate stakeholders
Draft and ensure appropriate approvals for senior leader and Enabling Function messaging for use across a range of internal channels.
Support the end-to-end delivery of UK and Group-wide conferences, events, campaigns and business engagement and/or transformational change programmes
Work with Enabling Function teams teams to coordinate case studies that highlight key strategic positioning themes such as industry leading capability, sustainability, innovation and engineering expertise
Maintain tracking and planning tools to capture opportunities across multiple Enabling Functions to ensure successes and milestones are publicised in the most effective way
Oversee day-to-day management of Employee Communications communication channels, such as the Hub, Balfour Beatty TV, official project and office noticeboard poster sets, and monitor, share and publish updates as required in SharePoint and Viva Engage.
Who we're looking for
Essential:
Experience of operating effectively in complex organisational structures with multiple stakeholders
Excellent communication craft skills and technical knowledge of channel frameworks
Strong relationship building with good networking and interpersonal skills
Strong copywriting capability with an eye for what makes a good, engaging story that will appeal across our stakeholder base
Team player with ability to work with individuals across multiple geographical locations
Adapts positively to changing business demands
Good understanding of the regulatory environment and financial calendar communications
A passion for, and understanding of, industry issues and the national news agenda
A clean driving licence and willingness to travel as required
Experience using Microsoft Office 365, particularly Outlook, Teams (Live and Webinar), Viva Engage and SharePoint
Desirable:
Experience of working on construction/civil engineering infrastructure projects
Experience using platforms such as Poppulo, Staffbase or similar employee communications email
platforms An understanding of the regulatory environment in construction
Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field
Member of CIPR and relevant qualification
