PSTAX is a tax consulting firm specialising in serving public sector bodies such as NHS, local authorities, police forces, and fire and rescue services. PSTAX sits in the Opto Group who were acquired by Dains Accountants in August 2023, alongside its sister company, S3TAX, a specialist third-sector tax advisory firm. CRSTAX, a specialist NHS tax advisory firm also joined the group in June 2024.


As an Employment Tax Manager/Senior Manager, you will share your time between project and case work, consultancy, seminar delivery, and reactive helpline response. You'll work as part of a collaborative team, and there is always help at hand for second opinions on technical queries from our clients.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring the client helpline and drafting responses within the agreed deadlines Undertaking tax research and formulating advice and guidance for clients in meetings, calls, emails and letters Preparing occasional reports Demonstrate adherence to the firms policies and procedures Demonstrating a track record of being a successful work winner and meeting sales targets, ensuring that advice is appropriately reviewed and filed Maintaining records to organise the delivery of work to agreed deadlines Assisting with client follow up to ensure advice is understood and implemented, or to secure follow on work Monitoring and pursuing required responses to correspondence/communications Attending client and internal meetings with colleagues and, where the most junior attendee, taking meeting notes Undertake the prescribed client-engagement process for new clients Log information impacting billing and client relationship processes Project managing the time spent on client deliverables to come in at the agreed budget Presenting at Forums and training courses

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Technical knowledge of UK Employment Taxes (public sector would be a benefit). Common areas of experience would be: OPW/IR35, Salary sacrifice schemes, Termination payments, CIS, NMW, Expenses, benefits, PSA and P11D Presentation skills, for internal and external delivery Creative problem solver Consultative approach Attention to detail with experience drafting reports
