Are you passionate about supporting people with a learning disability to have their voices heard and their experiences valued? We are looking for an Engagement Officer (Support) to join our dynamic Engagement & Influencing Team.
As the
Engagement Officer (Support),
you will play a vital role in supporting our Engagement Connector, who has a learning disability, to achieve their goals and manage their workload. You'll help facilitate their work, explore creative solutions to overcome challenges, and support them in engaging with both staff and the people we support across our direct services.
This is a permanent, part-time position (15 hours per week), based at our Abercynon office, with regular travel across Wales. A valid driving license and access to your own vehicle are essential for this role.
Your responsibilities will include:
Helping the Engagement Connector, run internal networks to gather lived experiences, which will inform our influencing and campaigns work.
Supporting the Engagement Connector to be active on our social media channels, including creating regular videos and posts about their activities.
Engaging with staff, people we support, and wider networks across Wales, responding to consultations and policy developments.
Developing engagement mechanisms with local services, partners, families, and community projects.
Coordinating social media activity with the wider communications team.
Delivering training sessions to external audiences as required.
What We're Looking For
Previous experience supporting someone with a learning disability.
Ability to work in a self-empowered and flexible way.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge of co-production and power-sharing principles.
Passion for campaigning and community organising.
Experience working on Wales-wide campaigns and with decision makers (e.g.,
Senedd members, local authorities).
