As an Engineering Operations Manager, your key responsibilities would include:

  • Develop and manage engineering capabilities in line with business strategy and growth plans, including headcount planning and strategic workforce planning (SWP).
  • Oversee demand identification, satisfaction, and continuous improvement processes in collaboration with the Project Management community.
  • Create and manage engineering mobilisation, transition, and training plans to support project needs and knowledge retention.
  • Manage the quarterly promotion process for engineering staff, ensuring appropriate sign-offs and complete packages.
  • Oversee budget management, including internal allocations, training prioritisation, and engineering change projects.
  • Coordinate graduate and apprentice programmes, including rotations, mentoring, and line management.
  • Manage independent reviewer demand and satisfaction for critical milestones and Engineering Status Reviews.
  • Develop and maintain processes for Intellectual Property control and data management in accordance with company policies.
  • Organise and manage monthly Engineering Status Review meetings, tracking actions and aligning with the Project Management Office.
  • Create and manage metrics and reporting for engineering initiatives to drive efficiency and technology adoption.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will bring a breadth of knowledge and experience in particular:
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work co-operatively in a matrix team environment
  • Proficient in data gathering, management, and analysis, including use of Microsoft Project
  • Skilled in creating well-structured documents and managing them through review processes
  • Ability to create, monitor, and adjust plans to meet project needs
  • Self-motivated professional demonstrating integrity, flexibility, and innovation
  • Confident in working with Engineering and project teams
Additional desirable qualifications include:
  • Significant leadership and team management experience, including developing others
  • University-level qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, IT discipline, or equivalent wide range of relevant experience
  • Technical skills in areas such as IP management, review management, and data management (e.g., SharePoint, Microsoft BI)
Additional Information
Salary for this position is 50,560 to 63,200, depending on experience plus our excellent flexible benefits package.
We offer hybrid working - for this role ideally we are looking for an average of 2 days per week per month on site.
