The Vacancy
Centara Engineering Services Ltd are recruiting for an Engineering Project Documentation Lead to join the team based in Normanton, UK. This is a full time, permanent position.
The Engineering Project Documentation Lead is responsible for managing and co-ordinating drawing-related projects for designated stakeholders, ensuring compliance with customer standards. A key focus of this role is maintaining robust document control while collaborating with colleagues, team leaders, and project managers throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves both office-based and on-site responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain regular communication with clients to report on project progress and escalate any issues that may impact deliverables. These concerns should be addressed with stakeholders and discussed with the appropriate project managers and or line manger.
  • Ensure consistent document control across internal systems and servers, maintaining accurate project logs and reports. These should be shared weekly with both clients and the project manager, or as reasonably practicable.
  • Travel across the UK as required by project demands (a full UK driving licence is essential).
  • Ensure timely delivery of projects to the required standards.
  • Conduct site-based tasks including drawing audits, system restructures, and filing of As-Built / As-Installed drawings and documentation.
  • Implement and maintain effective document control procedures both onsite and within the office environment.
  • Manage and deliver various stages of project activities, particularly the return of As-Built / As-Installed documentation.
  • Communicate project status and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to clients and line managers.
  • Forward new enquiries to the relevant project managers.
  • Plan projects in advance to meet deadlines and notify the relevant project manager/coordinator.
  • Log and track your own working schedule for planning and scheduling purposes.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of departmental processes as well as train members on the required management process .
  • Create and maintain accurate project logs and reports.
  • Occasionally deliver managed services directly to clients
  • Maintain confidentiality and control around sensitive documentation
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with National Grid drawings, with proven knowledge of National Grid SR135.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in document control or a similar role.
  • Must be able to obtain necessary UK security clearances required by the role
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with project management
  • Analytical and Problem Solving
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and hands on experience with IDMS systems (preferably SharePoint and OpenText).
  • Strong reporting and communication skills.
  • Strong IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Flexible, proactive, and dependable.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence required.
Salary and Benefits:
  • Salary: 35,000 - 42,000 (Depending on Experience)
