About the Role

We are looking for a

time-served Mechanical or Electrical Engineer

to step into a new role as a

Skills Coach

, supporting the next generation of engineers at the start of their careers.

You will assess, coach, and guide engineering apprentices in the workplace, visiting them on-site across the North East region. You'll manage your own diary and work largely remotely, with occasional visits to our Coventry centre for training.

No prior experience in teaching or assessing is required -- full training will be provided. What matters most is that you are a qualified engineer with strong practical experience, who is

passionate about supporting apprentices

to develop their skills and achieve their qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

Visiting apprentices in the workplace to observe and assess their progress. Providing coaching, guidance, and support to help apprentices achieve their Level 3 qualification. Using your engineering experience to mentor apprentices and share best practice. Recording progress against apprenticeship standards. Managing your own diary and workload effectively. Attending occasional training and team sessions in Coventry.
Requirements

Time-served

Mechanical or Electrical Engineer

. Hold a

Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Engineering

. Strong work ethic, reliable, and able to work independently. Willingness to travel across the North East region. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for developing others and supporting young engineers at the start of their career. Full UK driving licence.
